Get Outdoors!

Being in nature makes people feel happy and is good for the soul. Now that the weather is getting nicer, let’s get these kiddos off of the couch and out of the house! Here are a few easy ways to connect your kids with the great outdoors.

  • Nature Scavenger Hunt. Put together a list of items ahead of time or collect anything you see along the way! Perfect adventure for your own backyard, the local park, camping and hiking. Download your printable FREE Nature Scavenger Hunt Click Here.

  • Plant Seeds. This activity checks the educational box and gets your kids outside! Teach them about the different stages of plant life cycle, starting with a seed. If you don’t have a backyard, not to worry, 12-inch pots work perfectly fine.

  • Create an Ocean. All you need is a plastic bin, blue aquarium rocks, rubber or plastic sea creatures and water. This activity has the Dollar Store written all over it! Click Here for the step by steps.

  • Will it Sink or Float? This is a really fun science experiment! Have your kids collect items from around the house that they think might sink or float. Sometimes we forget how simple it can be to come up with easy activities for our kids. Chasing bubbles, playing catch, dancing to music, riding a scooter, flying a kite, painting with chalk… We could go on and on!

Children need time to play and enjoy themselves both inside and outside but you can still sneak in some learning time while they are playing to keep their minds sharp. Hopefully these ideas have inspired you and have helped get your summer plans into motion.
